Founded in 1996, Richard Foster Architects is a full service architecture firm, specializing in custom residential design with a focus on client satisfaction. We pride ourselves on our commitment to high quality architecture, with a diverse portfolio of project types and architectural styles. We appreciate the warmth, scale, and charm of traditional aesthetics but understand the importance of incorporating modern features to meet present-day needs. Our work has been featured in numerous publications, including Home and Design Portfolio's Top 100 Designers in D.C., Washington Spaces Magazine, Tuscan Style Magazine, and Dream Homes of Greater Washington D.C.
PROCESS
It is our desire to design homes that reflect the personality and aesthetic preferences of their owners, while conveying a sense of timelessness, authenticity, and appropriateness for the their site. Our expertise and understanding of both architecture and construction allows us to guide our clients through the complex design process in a hands-on way. We value the collaboration between client, architect, contractor, and other design disciplines to ensure a quality project that exceeds the clients' expectations while respecting their budget.
PEOPLE
Owner and managing partner Richard Foster, Architect founded the firm in 1996 after serving as vice president of a residential development and construction firm for seven years. He holds a Bachelor of Science in architecture from Catholic University and has been licensed to practice architecture since 1984.
Daniela Martinez joined the firm in 2010. She holds a Bachelor of Science in architecture from the University of Maryland and a Master of Architecture degree from Illinois Institute of Technology. She has been practicing since 2004 and obtained her license in 2018.
Patrick Zimmerman, Architect joined the firm in 2014. He holds a Bachelor of Science in architecture from the University of Maryland and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Tennessee. He has been practicing since 2004 and obtained his license in 2017.
